farrow & ball’s archive colours collection

Whether you’re taking a stroll down memory lane, reacquainting yourself with well-loved hues or simply want to see what all the nostalgia is about, Farrow & Ball’s Archive Colours collection houses all the paint shades retired from their ongoing colour cards. From hidden gems to old friends, there’s plenty to discover here.

a celebration of F&B’s colourful history

Farrow and Ball’s Archive Colours palette tells the vibrant story of the Dorset-based company, offering a snapshot into the best of the heritage-inspired paints they’ve developed over the years. Born of almost 3 quarters of a century’s worth of tireless research, first-rate craftsmanship and a fierce love of British culture, these paint colours are a testament to F&B’s ability to reinterpret the gravitas of the interiors of eras gone by for the modern home.

heritage-inspired pigment

Many of Farrow & Ball’s Archive colours draw on the historic character and depth of pigment from heritage properties up and down the country. Take Berrington Blue no.14, for instance. This shade was directly lifted from the boudoir of Herefordshire’s Berrington Hall. And Castle Grey no.92? The name speaks for itself.

unrivalled quality

As with all of Farrow and Ball’s other collections, their Archive Colours are made with the highest quality ingredients and using artisanal techniques. This means that you’re getting the most of every litre you paint, down to the very last drop.

going the extra mile for the planet

Beyond the versatility element, it’s important we mention Farrow & Ball’s excellent eco credentials. Not only are each of the paints in their Archive Colours collection 100% water-based, so low-VOC, low odour and easier to dispose of responsibly; they’re produced using renewable energy and via small-batch manufacturing. With B-Corp status as of 2024, they’ve demonstrated their commitment in every step of their supply chain.

picking from Farrow & Balls’s Archive Colours

Farrow & Ball has been going for 75 years, so there are plenty of Archive Colours to pick from – each with the promise of the deepest colour, top all-round performance and a delightful response to light.

reunite with iconic shades

From limited edition collections to all of the retired old hits,  you don’t want to sleep on these colours. After all, there’s a reason why they’re so popular. Top contenders are Faded Terracotta no.cc8, Dauphin no.54 and, of course, Book Room Red no.50.

going off the beaten track

Want to branch out into something a bit different? Then why not take a look at some of the lesser-known shades? There’s the eponymous Archive no.227. What about Bothy Blue no.g11, or Fruit Fool no.9911? The choice is yours.
