Description
everything you want to know about Paint & Paper Library paints
Paint & Paper Library make their paint using traditional methods, with eco-friendly ingredients and low VOC content. It comes in only 5 finishes (+ 1 primer) to make your life easier.
Pure Flat Emulsion: the flattest emulsion in the range, with a deep matt finish (2% sheen). It goes on all interior modern plaster ceilings and walls, it’s wipeable and ideal for low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. This micro-porous emulsion also lets the fabric of your building breathe.
Architect’s Matt: washable matt finish with a 3% sheen level (5% for dark colours). Scuff and stain-resistant, this finish is perfect for interior walls and ceilings in high-traffic areas like kitchens and hallways. You can also use it for exterior masonry decoration.
Architect’s Eggshell: a smooth low sheen finish, with a 15% sheen level which makes it almost flat. It’s the perfect product for woodwork, metal, furniture, and radiators. Fully washable, it’s also ideal for areas where condensation can be a problem, like kitchens and bathrooms.
Architect’s Satinwood: a subtle satin finish (30-35% sheen). It’s specifically made for everything wooden – trims, kitchen cupboards, and furniture. Washable and extremely hard-wearing, it’s formulated to remain flawless on surfaces that aren’t always treated gently.
Architect’s Gloss: high gloss paint that reaches an 80% sheen level. It’s a tough, protective, and durable paint that you can use on interior and exterior woodwork, furniture, metal, and radiators – but first prime new metalwork or aged gloss paint.
Architect’s All Surface Primer (A.S.P.): a primer undercoat with 5-8% sheen available in all the Paint and Paper Library colours. You can use it on all interior and exterior surfaces, woodwork, building plastics, tiles, glass, and metal – it essentially goes on everything.
how much Paint & Paper Library paint do I need?
Now that you’ve chosen the finish, you need to open your calculator app to get the right quantity of paint. If you hate numbers, don’t panic. We’re going to help you with some fool proof calculations.
First, get that tape measure out! If you’re a DIY pro, just measure up your room – we don’t need to tell you what to do. If you’re already confused, here are some ballpark figures:
- small rooms are around 2 x 2 m per wall
- medium rooms are around 4 x 4 m per wall
- skirting boards will need less than 1 litre
- feature walls are usually 2.5 x 2 m
- count the ceiling as a wall, as it will be a similar size.
Now do your maths to get to the total square metres you want to paint, write it down and let’s talk coverage.
If you want your freshly painted walls to look flawless and last longer, coverage is key. Good coverage means no waste and no wasted money. That’s why we always suggest TWO even coats for that perfect durable finish.
All Paint & Paper Library paint is packed with pigment for a great, durable finish. Applied evenly, this paint covers at least 13 m2 per litre – so you’ll get around 32.5 m2 from a 2.5L tin, considering two coats.
To go back to the ballpark figures:
- small room (16 m2)? 2.5 L tin
- medium (32 m2) room? 5 L tin
- skirting boards, feature wall (5m2) or ceiling? 750 ML tin
If you’re about to burst into tears with numbers crowding into your brain or you need to paint a less regular surface – beginner furniture painters, we’re looking at you –, drop us a message. All our paint geeks have a paint calculator installed in their brains and will tell you how much paint you need in no time.
